The National Tour

The National Tour is proudly presented as part of National Science Week. Throughout National Science Week 2008, two international scientists will tour Australia, giving public presentations in capital cities.

Keep an eye out for this year’s scientists coming to a city near you!

Who are this year’s scientists?

The Skeptic: Dr Michael ShermerMichael Shermer

Ever wonder why people believe in UFOs and alien abductions, mind-reading and psychics, reincarnation and life after death, out-of-body experiences and urban legends?

Dr Michael Shermer investigates these questions and more as an internationally renowned skeptic.

A genuine ghost-buster, Michael is on a crusade against junk science, bad science and plain old nonsense.

Michael is the Founding Publisher of Skeptic magazine (www.skeptic.com), the Executive Director of the Skeptics Society, a monthly columnist for Scientific American, the host of the Skeptics Distinguished Science Lecture Series at Caltech, and Adjunct Professor of Economics at Claremont Graduate University.

The Lion Tamer: Luke Hunter

Luke Hunter has loved wild cats since he was three years old.

Luke Hunter

Born in Melbourne, Luke now spends his days traveling the world, fighting to protect these beautiful endangered animals.

As Executive Director of the New York-based Panthera Foundation, he works to conserve the world’s 36 species of wild cats.

Luke will amaze you with stories of his adventures saving the ‘big cats’ in South Africa, Iran and Brazil.
